ABOUT THIS PROJECT

MITHIIN: The Rizal Quest

MITHIIN — a Filipino word meaning "to dream" or "to aspire", is an educational game website created as a digital tribute to Dr. José Rizal, the Philippine national hero. The project was developed by Group 6 of IT22S2 for GEM 001: Life and Works of Rizal, with the goal of transforming the study of Rizal's life, works, and ideals into an interactive and engaging experience.

Rather than presenting Rizal's story as a passive reading exercise, MITHIIN invites users to actively play and engage with his legacy through four distinct games: a trivia quiz (Utak at Panitik), a visual memory match (Gunita), a word-guessing challenge (Mga Lihim), and an endless runner (Takbo, Pepe!). Each game is grounded in historically accurate content, from his family and childhood in Calamba, to his education at Ateneo, his exile in Dapitan, his martyrdom at Bagumbayan, etc.

The name itself reflects Rizal's enduring relevance: his life was a testament to the power of dreams and intellect in the face of oppression. Through MITHIIN, Group 6 hopes to honor that legacy by making it accessible, memorable, and meaningful to a new generation of Filipinos.
